I never got to to thank you publicly for helping me raise Courtney. I remember being just a young girl pregnant with your sons child and sneaking up the back staircase because I was ashamed you would see my protruding belly.

Today, I realize you never batted a discerning eye at me, you never judged me and you never said one unkind word to me, a confused seventeen year old girl that had no idea of how challenging motherhood would change her life forever.

Thank you for feeding me when I was hungry, thank you for giving me a place to stay when my own family couldn't accept the decision I made, thank you for showing me the importance of being present in my daughters life, and after all the mistakes I continued to make as mother you never judged me. You are an incredible, resilient women, and although Paul and I couldn't manage to keep it together, I was still a part of your life and the front door was always open for me. I love you more than words can say, and I promise to continue to take care of your Lil foo foo until my last breath.
