AOl News reports that addiction is so rampant in Sarab Afghanistan that kids as young a 1 years old are getting high on opium and it's no big deal. As the US struggles with addiction with teens and adults, kids across the world are getting high on Opium at record numbers and authority' seem to bes turning the other cheek. As early as 8 in the morning a 1year old is already curled up with an opium pipe in the comfort of his own home. The oldest member in the house inhales a cloud of smoke, passes the piple to his wife who then passes it to their young daughter and then the daughter blows the opium smoke into the little 1 year old babys tiny motuh and the babies eyes roll back into his head.
There are at least 200,000 opium and herion addicts in Central Asia today, at least half of the nation is addicted. The children in are suffering severly, they go days ,sometimes weeks with dirty clothes and no food. One small child cut his finger and instead of using a bandage or cleaning out the cut, the grandfater blew opium into his mouth because there was no medicene available to held them so he gave the child opium"this is the only thing that can make him feel better" Afghanistan supplies nearly all the world's opium, the raw ingredient used to make heroin, and while most of the deadly crop is exported, enough is left behind to create a vicious cycle of addiction
